Video Content in MedicForge
Video is one of the most effective ways to teach EMS procedures and scenarios. MedicForge supports multiple video sources to give you flexibility in how you deliver content.
Supported Video Sources
- YouTube: Embed any public or unlisted YouTube video
- Vimeo: Embed Vimeo videos with privacy controls
- Direct Upload: Upload MP4 files directly (size limits apply based on plan)
Adding a YouTube Video
- Navigate to your course and select a module
- Click Add Lesson
- Select Video as the content type
- Paste the YouTube URL (e.g., https://youtube.com/watch?v=...)
- Add a title and description
- Click Save
The video will be embedded directly in the lesson, and student viewing progress will be tracked automatically.
Adding a Vimeo Video
The process is the same as YouTube. Simply paste the Vimeo URL and MedicForge will handle the embedding.
Pro tip: Use Vimeo's privacy settings to restrict videos to only be viewable when embedded on MedicForge.
Uploading Your Own Videos
- Navigate to your course and select a module
- Click Add Lesson
- Select Video as the content type
- Click Upload Video
- Select an MP4 file from your computer
- Wait for the upload to complete
- Add a title and description
- Click Save
Video Upload Limits
| Plan | Max File Size | Total Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 100 MB | 1 GB |
| Professional | 500 MB | 25 GB |
| Institution | 2 GB | 100 GB |
Best Practices
- Keep videos under 15 minutes: Shorter videos improve retention
- Use chapters: Break long procedures into multiple short videos
- Add captions: YouTube auto-generates captions; review them for accuracy
- Compress before upload: Use HandBrake or similar tools to reduce file size
